If you’d told me 10 years ago I’d be showing up on my LinkedIn page as Timothy Sewell, I’d be just as horrified then as I am now.

Just kidding, Tim. We both look great. 😜

But, this technology is rapidly developing, and it’s likely further along than most businesses realize. And with it, the threats of fraud and impersonation become all too real for businesses of any size.

Your best protection against these tools is awareness, plain and simple; there is no tech solution available for this threat. Our team is prioritizing training and development tools to educate the human layer of your defenses.

If you want to learn more about what we’ve been developing, shoot me a DM. And if you want see yourself as Tim - let me know in the comments and we’ll do our best.

I had a conversation that the cyber risk quantification market is set to be a $6bil market. This new resurgence of pursuing the elusive quant models is mostly driven from the challenging cyber insurance market and an influx of VC / PE / M&A cash to fuel it.

There have been a lot of fits and starts with this concept over the last decade and many companies have tried and abandoned the efforts because CFOs didn’t believe the data or found holes in assumptions.

I hope that the new energy pans out and provides some positive progress. HOWEVER, the reality that I can predict:

  • If companies still don’t invest in asset inventory with business context and attributes: quantification will fail if business stakeholder relations, sponsorship, and engagement do not receive deep human to human investment: quant will fail.

  • If the market doesn’t figure out how to move beyond quantification of personal information and transcend into including intellectual valuation in assets and unstructured data stores, quant will fail.

  • If cyber program leaders can’t convince their financial backers how to fund more than year 1 of a tool investment: quant will fail.

  • If tech-only focused “CISOs” can’t look past tool deployments and tech stack kingdom building: quant will fail.

None of these challenges are insurmountable, but none will be solved from the next SaaS solution that promises “easy button” quantification and limitless influence of business leaders everywhere.

But if you are going to head down this road (again or for the first time), you should pour the above foundation, before attempting to buy or build the 3rd floor penthouse to your program.
