Highlights
Until something goes wrong, no one thinks about codes and standards.
(Well, except for SEIA.)
Codes and standards underpin all that the solar and storage industry does.
How you mount a panel, connect an inverter, and make a residential sale are all informed by the codes and expectations laid out by a standard-setting organization. And that’s what SEIA is here for. Over the last several years, we have invested in becoming a standard-setting organization and building out new codes and standards to proactively and responsibly manage the industry’s growth. Last week, SEIA launched two new standards related to the customer experience.
Standard 401 will outline training requirements for solar salespeople and Standard 201 aims to enhance the safety and quality of residential solar and storage installations. We’ve heard customers loud and clear, and these groundbreaking standards reflect the solar and storage industry’s commitment to ensuring every customer has a great experience going solar.
You can read more about those standards here: https://lnkd.in/ervm7eAh
As an ANSI - American National Standards Institute-accredited standards developer, SEIA has been convening diverse stakeholders to develop a suite of 11 industry-wide standards, including standards on supply chain traceability and decommissioning. It’s not the flashiest element of running an industry, but it is a vitally important one. It’s about building trust and meeting expectations every time. An industry’s image is often only as strong as its weakest link. And, with these standards, SEIA is helping to fortify every part of the solar experience. https://lnkd.in/gHRnqf55
Today, we’re taking another big step in standardizing the residential solar experience. The Solar Energy Industries Association is partnering with Recheck to launch a first-of-its-kind registry for the residential solar industry. This platform will be a key resource for businesses across the sector. For sales representatives and installers, the Recheck platform will allow them to complete and promote third-party certifications (such as SEIA’s upcoming standards), enabling them to differentiate themselves based on validated best practices. For businesses, contractors, and financiers, the platform will help them confirm that their partners meet certification, licensing, and training requirements. This is exactly the kind of industry-wide verification that helps ensure every solar installation in the United States is safe, reliable, and meets customer expectations. Solar remains America’s most popular form of energy. And it’s our job to keep it that way. This new Recheck platform is a key tool for doing just that. I want to give a big thank you and shout out to all our founding partners including Dividend, Freedom Forever, GoodLeap, Mosaic (joinmosaic.com), Palmetto, Sungage Financial, Sunlight Financial, and Sunrun.
