The pace of development at OpenAI, and GenAI broadly, is mind-boggling. 🤯

If you haven't seen it yet, they just demonstrated GPT-4o audio and visual modes: https://lnkd.in/gz6yckFu

I've been itching to have Siri at 10% of this capability for years now. Hoping the Apple <> OpenAI rumours are true.

I've been writing to think lately. But I've noticed how despite being a fairly fast typer (119 WPM max speed), I still find typing my rate-limiter. It's even worse with hand-writing writing where I'm ~25% as fast.

But speaking.. that approaches cognitive bandwidth as far as I can tell.

As I reflect on the women in my life, I feel immensely grateful to be surrounded by passionate, strong, ambitious, empathetic, and intelligent persons.

My mother, Soha, was my first inspiration. Since early childhood, she taught me firsthand how to reflect deeply, how to maintain clarity of thought, and that we each hold a responsibility towards our collective.

I would’ve loved to speak more to the women that touch me every day in my personal and professional lives.

But today, I’d like to highlight one woman in particular that struck me by her courage and commitment to sparing human lives, even at the grave risk of losing her own.

Dr Amira Al Assouli ran out of Al Nasser Hospiral in Khan Younis, Gaza to save an injured young man under heavy Israeli sniper fire right outside the gates.

Notice the sheer determination and fearlessness in her eyes.

She ran out knowing very well that she may be a target like many healthcare workers before her. Their noble causes did not spare them. And yet, she didn’t even hesitate.

This is literally what heros look like.
