We helped Tom land a $200K offer (+ got promoted 1 year into the role). Here's the low down ⇣

Before working with us, Tom (that’s his alias):

  • Knew his career growth was stunted
  • Didn't know how to sell his value story
  • Was at a loss on how to negotiate offers

After we began working together:

  • Lost → offer signed in exactly 30 days
  • Remote role with a US company (while in Canada)
  • $200K + Stock Options (100% salary increase!)

But 3 roadblocks were holding him back from his dream offer (+ how we fixed them):

  1. 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆

Tom hit a growth ceiling in his current company.

He knew it was time to move on

But didn't know the answer to "what's next?"

We audited his career experiences

And nailed down his superpower.

That is: the core value he brings to the table.

Once we got that story straight

His resume converted applications into interviews.

  1. 𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝟬 𝗼𝗳 𝟭 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄𝘀

Tom was great at his role

Not so much at selling himself.

As interviews rolled in, we cleaned up his storytelling.

When I say Tom cleaned up, he cleaned up.

His interview answers became compelling case studies

That made him stand out as the 'candidate of choice'.

  1. 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀.

Tom had hit a growth ceiling at his current company

So the salary was an important consideration here.

His verbal offer came in 20 days after starting with us.

But it was not much more than what he was making.

We hashed out an in-depth offer negotiation strategy.

And he took that back to the negotiation table.

10 days later he got the written offer for 100% more.

The end result?

  • Fully remote US role (while in Canada)
  • $200K + Stock Options (100% more salary)
  • 20 days to verbal offer, 30 days to signed offer.

The best part?

He got promoted after being there for just 1 year.

Tom, you're a legend!

7 things I wish my executive candidates knew during my time as a exec recruiter (that lead to offers):

  1. If I call you for an interview, I already think you're a good fit and I'm looking for a every reason to move you forward. Help me help you.

  2. My job is to make you look good in front of the rest of the hiring team, so come prepared to humble brag about yourself and showcase what you've achieved, no matter how small. Help me help you.

  3. If I don't get back to you, I'm not ignoring you, my team and are are hiring for 100+ roles at a time. Follow-ups are appreciated, they're not annoying at all. Help me help you.

  4. I appreciate your email/DM me. Help me get back to you by doing your homework and highlighting why you're a great fit for the role. Hiring teams need to know "Why you?". Help me help you.

  5. If you offer to stay in touch with me after a rejection, please do so. A 'NO' now can turn into an offer later. Help me help you.

  6. I can tell if you just want a job vs. you wanting to genuinely work at our company. We work to get paid but it pays to want to work at for a mission/vision you love. Help me help you.

  7. I'm human, not an evil gatekeeper that eats candidates for breakfast. I', your right hand in the hiring process. Help me help you.

Recruiters get a bad rap out in the market.

But in reality, they're your friends in the hiring process.

This goes for both: → In-house recruiters → Agency recruiters

Don't view them as "the other".

Exec recruiters + exec candidates are a partnership.

Help them help you.

As a result

You'll experience a better quality job search.

(and more offers).

P.S. Have recruiters helped your job search?
