What is a good resource to learn about caching (from frontend perspective)? Like starting from nginx, http headers, browser network caching, then on to manifest/service worker.
Doesn't have to be one resource, but any good combination that helped you get the full picture.
A random post on youtube urls - So, a normal YT video url when viewed as part of a playlist looks like this - youtube.com/watch?v=<id1>&list=<id2> These 2 ids represent the video and the playlist which is shown beside it.
So, uhh, you know where this going -
- Does it check if the video is part of that playlist?
- Nope 😎. So, you can just pair any video with any playlist for a good chuckle. Like this -

- Also, what about that "Watch Later" button/playlist ?
(Ok, first of all - I am angry at how many times it's position and form has changed on YT over years. Is it a button? Is it a playlist? Does it work with one tap or do i need to wait for all playlists to load, then select one? Nobody knows at this point.)
Now, back to our investigation - turns out, it's a special playlist with id "WL". It's a private list whose content is diff for each user and obviously doesn't work if you are logged out. So, a video from your WL looks like -
https://lnkd.in/gicH5zB (Well, if you haven't seen that video - it's a must add to your watchlist anyway 😀)
There is also a ?index=3 parameter, but it doesn't seem to matter much if you get it wrong. For missing videos, default index = 1.
That's all - now you know how to waste a lazy afternoon.
