#RacismAlertBangalore. Attached here is a video of a local mob trying to snatch my phone post me revolting to an autowala harassing me on my way to office. You can hear me asking them : Do I need your permission to work here ? They try to stop my video and snatch my phone so that I could be hit post that.

This is the 6th episode in the last 2 months of racism shown to me as a North Indian in Blr. These people stop my West Bengal registered SUV(the police doesn’t have any objection to it) and then start threatening me to work in silence and fear the locals failing which I could be mob lynched. The other episodes not just include these uneducated auto drivers but I also faced racism from a hospital’s surgeon.

Yesterday I shared these videos on my social handles and within an hour I got almost 100 responses of North Indians who faced the exact same issue.

These people(racists like these) need to starve to death(apologies for being extreme, but just visualise your rights as a free individual getting encroached, being stopped by groups of more than 25 goons while on you way to office not just one time) cause we give them livelihood and this is what they do to us. I’m leaving Bangalore cause this is too much for me now. There needs to come a point when these people need to apologise for this behaviour meted out to us for being recognised as North Indians cause beyond this geographical barrier, we all are simply Indians. It’s we who help them to survive by availing their services while living here.

For all the NorthIndians working here, please don’t be silent when this happens to anyone in front of you cause it could be you the very next day. These people play with their local numbers. High time we show them ours as well. #bangalore #work #people

To the worst airport I’ve visited so far: KOLKATA AIRPORT

Sharing an incident for reference: I was returning to India from Vietnam where I had a layover at Kolkata. My bags were already scanned in Vietnam once and there was no issue with the contents. Now at Kolkata airport, the CISF peeps asked me to unwrap an expensive Buddha statue which I was carrying along on my way back. I informed them that opening it could be a risk as I was headed to Bangalore and I couldn’t pack it back in a similar manner. Point to be noted: The x-ray image showed the entire outline of the statue, and it was very apparent that it was a fully intact Buddha statue.

When my logical arguments fell on deaf ears, I pulled a part of the paper wrapping back to expose the statue, while taking utmost care that nothing’s damaged.

The police personnel took it from my hand, and manhandled the statue and eventually broke the base. All what I got now was a sorry from them for this despicable act. I had understood it could be a security concern because of which I opened the pack halfway, and they could have opened the whole package carefully.

As my bags had passed the security check once already at my last stop, I really don’t get the reason why he even wanted to unwrap the whole statue cause unless he broke it, which he did, he couldn’t figure what was inside.

Other reasons for the airport to be the worst one I’ve been to yet:

  1. No one follows rules or queues.
  2. People think queues are like their local buses constantly rubbing their sweaty bodies against yours. NGL, I had a person walk with me to the body scan thinking we were gonna be scanned together.
  3. People are pushing you to check in their hand baggage before the security personnels who are watching the scene passively. Atleast half of them come back atleast twice to disrupt the queue just because they were careless and ended up with something or the other in their pockets. You’ll probably miss your flight waiting for some "civilised" set of people to function properly.
  4. Lounges are like buffets organised in a Durga Puja Pandal where people are literally picking the whole fruit kept on the table and packing them into their bags. During the hand baggage scan, there stood a middle aged female individual squeezing the juice out of her Rosogollas(2 boxes of 20) so that she could abide by the no liquid carrying policy and the security people were finding that scene cute.
  5. You need to watch out when you’re serving yourself cause no one waits for their turn here. Trust me I had a plate pulled out just below me multiple times while I was putting some food into mine.
  6. You need to be cautious before resting your own arm on the armrest of your chair in the lounge cause there might as well be 3 other people with their plates on it as they’ve got no place to sit at. And they call this an INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. I don’t understand WDF have most flights got a layover here.
