Highlights
Have prices got so high it’s now morally acceptable to buy counterfeit brands?
I’ve spent a bit of time in pubs recently (purely research related…) chatting to both Scotland 🏴 and England 🏴 fans.
One thing that’s amazed me is how many people are going out there way to buy FAKE kits! And openly admitting to it, even boasting about the money they’ve saved.
💰 When you see the price difference it’s no wonder people opt for fakes. Authentic kits from Nike and Addidas cost upwards of £85, while fake replicas are c£60/70 cheaper!
👕 The quality of the fakes (except the picture below!) tend to be pretty decent, from a far you can hardly tell the difference in most cases.
🤔 The main issue with buying fakes are ofcourse legal and moral. Where has the shirt come from? Was there any exploitation of workers in the process? What’s the repercussions to legitimate brands/supply chains to buying fakes?
If prices continuing to spiral it feels like consumers will find it easier and easier to put any moral quandaries aside to get their hand on the product they want.
Would you buy a fake kit?
It’s June which means summers here and most importantly it’s less than two weeks until EURO 2024!
With such a tournament it’s inevitable brands will jump on the bandwagon and try and cash in on the hype.
While there’s different was to go about this, for me humour will always catch my attention and make a memorable ad. My two favourites (so far) are from two brands who have a strong track record in producing hilarious ads.
