The UK economy grew 0.7% last quarter with low productivity. That situation is a million miles away from the success of #eoyuk finalists at the retreat we just finished. We got the chance to re-connect with the London/South east finalists (team Ethos Farm out in force!) and with so many other fabulous businesses. It was wonderful to reunite with fellow judges Sumir Karayi Kuntal Fisher Logan Naidu Jan Woods ❤️.

We also had a real life Olympian & Gladiator 🔥Montell Douglas, OLY who inspired us with her story then looked away when we did lunges 😱.

There was so much growth experience in the room and we talked with Steph McGovern Robert Peston about why the political parties say they want it but have very thin ideas on how to achieve it.

Thanks to EY for making this all happen I feel privileged to be part of it Ally Scott Alexandra Fogal Courtney Shields

All political parties are talking about growth and the need to produce more growing companies with high value jobs. But how? I have long believed that education is a critical enabler. My article just published in UKTN sets out the need to educate ALL young people in computing/digital to GCSE level (age 16) as those skills are the new modern language needed for success in all roles in every sector. Computing is currently 15th most popular GCSE/A level with only 20% female students.
This would require clear political leadership and a new partnership for how education works, trying to hire more Computing teachers is not the answer. Growth, inclusion, higher value jobs, levelling up, inspiring future, honestly what's not to like? UKTN is behind a paywall (I paid!) if you would like to read article but can't please post a comment.
