I am excited to announce that session two of our #Humanothon on #PopulationDecline and the futures it will create is coming up on September 6th in partnership with Hunome! Sign up and learn more here: https://lnkd.in/g8Wv3nQY
Join us to bring more stakeholders with different skill sets and perspectives into the humanothon process, a human, world, change-aware ‘marathon’ for sense making and building shared understanding. Here are some themes that came up in dialogue with 20 brilliant minds last time around:
𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐮𝐩
Besir Wrayet emphasised that the gap is widening between the Rich and the Poor which is surely impacting #fertility rates. Idris Azim shared that one of the most severe forms of economic depletion, which is increasing the gap, is the rise of unaffordable housing, which is an unintended consequence of population density, societal advances, the 20th century-rise of technology, and modern property market ideals. Dorsa Babaei shared that “I feel many youth have given up on the system and hence don’t educate themselves on this matter. Considering the inflation rate & all the issues related to youth accessing funding and having a budget, to me having proper #financialliteracy for the future generations and current youth is a necessity”.

Lonny J Avi Brooks highlighted that it will be “crucial to Keep #LGBTQIA+ communities and their rights in mind as political backlash against their assertion of voice increases as concern for population decline rises”. Dominique Jaurola shared that “a conservative wave is on the rise. It is flummoxing how belief and ideologies are placed in the center of thoughts about what the future should look like – tailored for the middle of the bell curve of who we humans are. Women back to the kitchen is one such flavor…”

Roy Wadia emphasised that “women’s right to choose when or if to get married; when or if to have children and how many… These rights and choices are fundamental to #genderequality.” He went on to recognise that “To encourage women and couples to have children, we need policies and measure that encourage gender equality in raising children and managing households, enabling women to work and earn on par with men, and enabling men to play an equal role in areas traditionally left to women. Population decline is a reflection of economics and changing sociocultural norms, and policies to address it must be holistic and not knee-jerk.”

I am excited to invite you to participate in my upcoming “humanathon” on the subject of population decline and its impacts on the future! 📣
This research will be conducted in partnership with Hunome, an online platform that enables researchers to explore the human experience in a unique and engaging way.
As some of you may already know, through my work on the game People Power, I have been conducting futures research on demographics. Well, I am about to take that research to the next level, and I need your help.
The purpose of this humanathon is to explore the causes and effects of population decline, and to begin to anticipate the challenges and opportunities that are coming down the track. A humanathon is a collaborative research event designed to bring people from diverse backgrounds together to explore complex issues related to the human experience.
I believe that my LinkedIn community is full of unique perspectives and experiences that would be so so valuable to capture in this research, so I would be honoured if you would consider joining me!
If you're interested in joining the online launch event and kick-off session on Tue Jun 6, 2023 7pm – 9pm (ICT), please DM me and I will send you all the details.
