Are you leveraging the power of networking to close deals? Networking is crucial for founders, especially when selling to their initial customers. Leveraging the power of community and strategic connections can significantly impact your growth trajectory.
In my experience with SCREEMO, my first company, networking has been instrumental. As a startup of just 20-30 people, I closed deals with giants such as Walmart, Coca-Cola, Deutsche Telekom, Ping An, and more. How? Through networking. We created a powerful chain reaction by finding a way to connect with top C-Levels, who then shared their positive experience with others. These C-Levels introduced us to one another, and so on. Networking opened doors we couldn't have accessed otherwise.
The benefits of networking extend far beyond initial introductions and can profoundly influence your business's success. Here are a few key advantages:
- Access to Key People: You can reach key individuals and decision-makers.
- Establishing Rapport: It helps create a positive impression before you even meet, thanks to the credibility of your introducers.
- Building Trust: Networking fosters trust and reliability, essential for successful business relationships.
- Expanding Opportunities: Each new connection can lead to multiple new opportunities and partnerships.
As a founder, there are several areas where you can build your network:
- Your Investors: They often have extensive networks and can introduce you to potential customers, partners, and other investors.
- Fellow Founders of Other Companies: These peers understand your challenges and can offer valuable advice, support, and introductions.
- Startup Acceleration Programs: These programs provide mentorship, resources, and a network of successful entrepreneurs and industry experts.
- Your Vendors (Lawyers, Accountants, etc.): These professionals work with many businesses and can introduce you to potential clients and partners.
Don’t underestimate the power of networking. It’s not just about who you know but who knows you and speaks highly of you. Building these relationships can be the key to your early success.

How to choose the right contact enrichment tool for prospecting (Zoominfo, Lusha, etc.)?
I recently chatted with fellow revenue leaders about the efficacy of various contact enrichment tools. Here are the key takeaways:
The most important thing is to trial and compare. When choosing a contact enrichment provider, remember that data costs money, which is why each provider has a data set that focuses on different geographies and industries (which they often don’t disclose). Here’s the best way to find the right fit for you:
- Request a trial from each provider with 20-50 contacts, depending on the provider.
- Compare the trial contacts against contacts from your Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) already in your CRM.
Other considerations to look at:
- Additional capabilities, such as outreach tools
- Responsive support team
- Compliance and workflow integration with your CRM and LinkedIn
Once you have all the above, choose the leading providers and negotiate the best deal! One last thing: consider choosing multiple providers to cover different regions and data sets.
Sharing is caring! Comment below if you have other insights or best practices to add.
To those of my LinkedIn connections who work for these providers, please feel free to share your thoughts! Assa Eldar, George (Lusha), Noam (ZoomInfo), Elad (Amplemarket)
