We honored Rothy's CEO Jenny Ming and my friend/author/actor/producer/activist Sheetal Sheth. We heard celebrated the launch of the first-of-its-kind national study, “Why We Lead: Understanding and Supporting the Leadership of AANHPI Girls and Gender-Expansive Youth” (https://lnkd.in/gUfa8HDX), and heard from the young people who were a part of the research study and give me real hope for a brighter future.

Reflecting on the insights shared at the ASU+GSV Summit and Jessica Grose’s The New York Times OpEd, I'm struck by the need to reassess our approach to technology in education as a way to prioritize the comprehensive needs of students.
"In recent years, tech companies have provided their products to schools either free or cheap, and then schools have tried to figure out how to use those products. Wherever that dynamic exists, it should be reversed: Districts and individual schools should first figure out what tech would be most useful to their students, and their bar for “useful” should be set by available data and teacher experience. Only then should they acquire laptops, tablets and educational software."
