Highlights
#SCAM #ALERT #ScamAlert Some scammer emailed the business manager at my place of employment pretending to be me. The scammer told the Biz Manager that the account info for direct deposit needed to be updated. Luckily the Biz Manager knew my proper email address. #tech #TechScam I told the Biz Manager to go ahead and answer the scam email asking for pertinent information: Name of Bank, Name on Account, Routing & Account #. If the scammer actually returns this information I plan to turn it over to the police when I file my report. I imagine the scammers are scraping #LinkedIn for the information on whom to target with this scam. It's a low quality scam anyway. Because to update the banking and routing number for direct deposit one needs to fill out and sign a form. I'm not sure how the scammer thought he/she was going to imitate my signature.
