My fabulous wife bought me a flight in a WW2 Spitfire as a 60th birthday bucketlist gift and, because my photography career was thanks to first using Quantel's Paintbox 40 years ago, there was only one place I was going to fly in it... over the Quantel factory that was originaly built in 1942 to make Spitfire parts

For world photography day, here's an image I created at Blackpool School of Art, using a Quantel Paintbox back in 1985 - years before there was even a word for the digital manipulation of images.
I didn't realize at the time I was the first photographer to specialize in this field, nor did I know that it was the beginning of a new photography era, when literaly every image would be digitally manipulated in some way.
Turns out that "New Photography" was such a prescient description that current Blackpool School of Art photography lecturer Aaron Tonks decided to curate an exhibition to show this generation of students my 80's Paintboxed photography.
