Director, Inclusive Local Economies Program at Metcalf Foundation

Adriana Beemans is a seasoned social sector leader with nearly 20 years of experience in designing and executing impactful programs in community development, non-profit management, and philanthropy. Currently serving as the Inclusive Local Economies program director at the Metcalf Foundation, she collaborates with a network of partners to promote labor-market strategies, innovative community wealth approaches, and structural change through community organizing.

Adriana thrives on being a curious, strategic, and lateral thinker, adept at uncovering systemic issues and patterns within stories and problems. She excels in asking insightful questions that drive organizational improvement and enjoys operationalizing ideas within complex systems. With skills in systems-thinking, capacity building, strategy development, and relationship management, Adriana gained valuable experience at various organizations, including Working Women Community Centre, Toronto Community Housing, and UN-Habitat Afghanistan.

Her educational background includes a Masters in Political Science and Environmental Studies from the University of Toronto, a Bachelors in International Development from Trent University, and completion of the Foundation Year Program at the University of King's College. Beyond her professional endeavors, Adriana is also an NBA enthusiast, community volunteer, and a dedicated mother to an eight-year-old.
