Highlights
🚨 In collaboration with sunil kumar and Shubham Singh, we are thrilled to announce the release of our latest blog, detailing the most recent infection routine observed of Water Sigbin, also known as the 8220 Gang to delivery XMRig cryptocurrency miner via Purecrypter loader.
🎯 The 8220 Gang has been operating for an extended period, specializing in the deployment of cryptocurrency-mining malware. Notably, the group is adept at exploiting vulnerabilities to deliver their malicious payloads.
🔍 In this blog, we provide an in-depth analysis of the most recent infection routine observed. It begins with exploiting Oracle WebLogic Server vulnerabilities, specifically CVE-2017-3506 and CVE-2023-21839, to deliver the Purecrypter loader, which is then used to deploy the widely known XMRig cryptocurrency miner.
🤝 Many thanks to my colleagues at Trend for helping highlight this research: sunil kumar, Shubham Singh and the entire Trend creatives team who helped put this together!

All praise and thanks to Allah
We recently discovered a new threat actor group, Void Arachne, targeting the larger Chinese demographic and East Asian community with malicious Windows Installer (MSI) files. These MSI files, disguised as legitimate software installers for AI and other popular software, contain malicious winos4.0 backdoor payload. Installing winos4.0 backdoor could lead to full system compromise.
Special thanks to Aliakbar Zahravi and Peter Girnus for their hard work and collaboration on this research.
