Ahmet Kara

Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Oxford

Ahmet Kara is a computer scientist with a strong theoretical background and an interest in designing practically relevant systems. He is currently a Professor of Computer Science at OTH Regensburg.3 Previously, he held positions as a Senior researcher (Oberassistent) in the DAST group at the Department of Informatics, University of Zurich since May 2020, and as a Postdoctoral researcher at the University of Oxford from October 2016 to May 2020.1

Dr. Kara's research focuses on the design and analysis of efficient algorithms for complex data processing tasks. His areas of expertise include:

  1. Incremental maintenance of database and machine learning workloads
  2. Reinforcement learning for query evaluation
  3. Game theoretic notions for explaining query results
  4. Logics in formal system verification

He completed his PhD at the Technical University of Dortmund, Germany, in 2016, with a thesis titled "Logics on data words: Expressivity, Satisfiability, Model checking".12

Throughout his career, Dr. Kara has published numerous papers in prestigious conferences and journals, including PODS, ICDT, VLDB, and ACM Transactions on Database Systems.12 His work spans various topics in computer science, from database management to formal verification systems.
