Aia Matt Hopkins is a seasoned architect and urban planner having worked on a diverse range of development projects throughout the Washington, D.C. area.

As the Development Director for the Mid-Atlantic at AIMCO, Mr. Hopkins brings a wealth of experience in architecture, urban planning, and sustainable building practices to his role.

With a background that includes designing retail centers, government complexes, hotels, biotech facilities, high rises, and corporate headquarters, Matt Hopkins has a comprehensive understanding of the built environment.

An advocate for sustainable development, Mr. Hopkins is a LEED professional and Fitwel Ambassador, actively promoting healthy building practices and engaged planning within the industry and various jurisdictions.

Additionally, he serves as a Planning Commissioner for the City of Gaithersburg, where he contributes his expertise to a variety of zoning and planning initiatives, shaping the future development of the city.

Educationally, Mr. Hopkins has a solid foundation with degrees in Architecture from The Catholic University of America, a Graduate Program in Sustainability and Environmental Management from Harvard University, and a Real Estate Development Certificate from the Urban Land Institute.

His professional journey includes roles as Vice President Of Development at AIMCO, Director of Architecture & Sustainability at Streetsense, and positions at DNC Architects and Architype, where he honed his skills in design, project management, and advocacy.

His commitment to excellence in architecture and planning is exemplified by his involvement in preliminary site analysis, development criteria, design at various levels, budgeting, construction management, and community planning, all focused on maximizing the benefits for clients and communities.
