Today I’m launching Manager Movement and real talk - I'm nervous about it. Why am I doing this? Because 16 years ago, I needed it. Last week, I still needed it. And after countless conversations with those who have felt the same, I’m willing to bet you need it too.

Did you know that 60% of new managers fail within their first two years? Honestly, I’m not surprised. If you’ve ever had to awkwardly coach someone about their personal hygiene in the office you know that you’d rather do any other job in the world. No? Just me? Well, buckle up, because I've got stories for days.

Rewind: I’m 23, barely out of college and a year into working at my first “real” job where I was suddenly promoted to a manager… of actual people. And I'm thinking, I’ve got this. Spoiler alert: I didn't. From having to experience mass layoffs to walking alongside employees through personal tragedies, taking over teams that were considered to be terrible and always expected to do more with less, I've had my fair share of moments that no leadership book written by a CEO or poorly produced training video prepared me for. But I had nowhere to turn, no one to ask, "Is this normal? Am I the world's worst manager?"

Fast forward from working in online education to SaaS startups, I've worn more hats than a costume shop on Halloween and I've switched gears more often than a Formula 1 driver. I've celebrated wins like being a finalist for Multiplier of the Year, expanded a company globally supporting the largest fast food chain in the world, to feeling the pure joy of raising a series A for the first time with a team I loved. But you know what? I've also had my fair share of facepalm moments that made me question my career choices.

And as an employee? I've experienced the full spectrum - from incredible managers who pushed me towards excellence to some who were, let's say, comically terrible. It's been a wild ride.

That's why I'm launching Manager Movement. It's not just another LinkedIn page (ok, right now that’s exactly what it is). It's also a lifeline for every manager who's ever thought, "I have no idea what I'm doing, and I'm pretty sure everyone's about to find out."

Here's the deal: -We're going to share stories - the good, the bad, and the "I can't believe that actually happened." -We'll laugh together because if we don't, we might cry. -We'll create a space where it's okay to say, "I messed up, and here's what I learned." -No BS, no corporate speak - just real talk about the rollercoaster of management.

So, here's my promise: Manager Movement will be the place where we can all admit that sometimes, being a manager feels like herding cats while juggling flaming torches.

Follow the Manager Movement page on LinkedIn. Our first story? It's a shit show about a firing that went completely off the rails.

I hope you’ll join me in this journey of growth and discovery.

Let's redefine management, one shared facepalm at a time.
