Insights from this week’s #ortusclub Roundtable—The Evolution of B2B Event Marketing.

💰”Show me the ROI” is a common question. The answer? Ensure crisp stakeholder alignment on a holistic, annualised field strategy that delivers on overall business level goals.

Events can have brand, account engagement, pipeline creation/acceleration, revenue goals. Know the broader business goal. Own your number. Build a path to the number—with the mix of field activity to get there. Not all events are equal when it comes to directly attributable ROI. But the top level number must add up.

How to get there?

🫶🏻 Deeply understand your audience—and how that clusters at scale. The segments, personas, the challenges, the funnel stages where you have softness. That’s the starting point for your field and event strategy.

✨Breadcrumb the market—build a modular, scalable content strategy for highly adaptable and repeatable formats. Complement this with larger moments (and investments). And choose them wisely.

🎁 Brand first and foremost—package up content and experiential with special touches that reflect your unique brand. It can be reflected in the venue choice, a unique gift, a guest speaker. Bring that memorable sparkle.

🤝 Partnerships are key—build your field ecosystem. From business level tech and consultancy partners, to market-level communities, memberships and agencies.

🙊 An event is not a strategy—a field or event activation is just that. An activation within a broader strategy.

Thanks for having me at your roundtable The Ortus Club - Executive Knowledge Sharing.

And thanks for reminding me that digital interactive events—when done well—are absolutely not dead.
