After a fantastic 24+ year run at IDC, I have decided it is time to step aside and allow the next generation of analysts to expand their roles and take our research programs where they need to go, responding to the immense change taking place in the industry. I’m very proud of the team we put together at IDC, and know they will do great things in the future. Congratulations to Jim Mercer who takes over management of the team that I formerly ran at IDC.

As for me, I have a long list of things I still want to accomplish, including activities that include giving back to the community in meaningful ways. I plan to take some college classes, and explore emerging technologies that I have not previously had the time to really dive into. While I have retired from IDC, that is not to imply that I am ceasing to work - I expect to be working just as hard in my post IDC-career, just in different ways. I am really looking forward to having time to learn new things in my life's next chapter!

I plan to stay in touch with friends and colleagues via LinkedIn and other social channels, so please continue to include me in your conversations!

If you're looking for ideas on Giving Tuesday, here's one that you might have not thought about before: a #WindowsUglySweater. They are being sold by #Microsoft, with the proceeds going to The Nature Conservancy. Truthfully, it's not really all that ugly, and kind of brings back memories of a #Windows release from 20+ years ago. Maybe not the best release of Windows ever, but the image itself is something many of us will never forget.
