Don't make the same mistakes as me...
Choosing the right mentor shouldn't be just about who you like! It should be about who can guide you to get from where you are, to where you want to be.
I've made this mistake (more than once!). I've chosen mentors simply because they seemed like charismatic very successful guru's... Big error!
Here are a couple of considerations for selecting the right mentor:
1️⃣ Align with your goals: Your mentor should have achieved what you're aiming for.
2️⃣ Proven track record: Look beyond the facade. Has their success stood the test of time?
3️⃣ Overcome similar obstacles: They should understand your challenges firsthand.
4️⃣ Accessibility: Celebrity mentors might inspire, but it's unlikely they'll give you personalised quality time and guidance?
5️⃣ Character matters: Their ethics and values should align with yours.
Think of it this way: a great mentor is going to help you get from where you are, to where you want to be. They'll act like a bridge to your future self. Choose wisely 🦉
Question: What's a valuable lesson have you learned from a mentor? What mentor experience changed your career trajectory?
We'd all love to hear about it in the comments!

Have you ever wondered why some people seem to have the "Midas touch" while others struggle despite continually working hard?
I know you know this ~ and I also know the majority of people don't like it... but the answer lies in one simple yet powerful truth: goals!
I've travelled a lot and met enough 'ultra high net worth' folks to also know it's not a coincidence... Those who achieve remarkable success aren't necessarily the hardest workers, but they are the ones with the clearest visions of what they want.
It's so obvious that it's laughable. Think of it like this:
You don't drive off in the car without a clear destination. You don't go to the airport without a clear destination either (maybe some do!?).
The same principle therefore, should apply to our careers and lives. Without a clear goal, we're simply drifting, hoping for the best.
And here's the thing... something magic happens when you physically write down a goal (with a pencil or pen) and focus on it.
So, here's a challenge:
- Take a couple of minutes right now to write down an important goal (be specific and make it measurable).
- Look at this goal several times a day, and let it be the first thing you think about in the morning and the last thing at night.
- Allow yourself to visualise achieving this goal, and feel the emotions associated with that success.
- Start thinking about the things you'll need (people, skills, resources etc).
- Keep reminding yourself why you set your goal and the reasons for your actions.
And remember: there's some weird kind of magic at play! By focusing on your goal (above all else), you're already on the path to achieving it 💫
Don't over complicate it ~ just sayin' 🤷♂️
Fact or fiction? Science or woo-woo? What's been your experience? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
