$300,000 Raised for Indigenous-Led Conservation Non-Profit Growth Studio in 2022
I am honoured to have helped raise $300,000 in 2022, to support four First Nations whose traditional lands include the Inland Temperate Rainforest in British Columbia, Canada, the only one in North America and 1 of only 3 inland rainforests in the world.
This $300,000 is being used to conserve a vast swath of rare ecosystems including:
-
Deep Snow Mountain Caribou (critically endangered)
-
Over 200 other threatened species, including grizzly bear, wolverine, great horned owls and salmon
-
Including a significant portion of the remaining Interior Temperate Rainforest -- 160,000 hectares (400,000 acres) of rare, old growth trees
I donated five weeks of full-time fund development, communications and strategic advice in 2022, which returned $1,900/hour for this Indigenous-led conservation project. We believe great things are ahead.
In 2022, I also took meetings to help other important organizations and initiatives:
-
Let’s Talk Health Society (much strategy, branding & organization building)
-
Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness (fund development & communications)
-
Headstart in Moncton, New Brunswick (executive support)
-
Friends of Bowker Creek (fund development)
-
Congregation Emanu-El group on children's rights
-
Tea Creek Indigenous food programs (private company in Kitwanga, BC)
Post-retirement, I continue volunteer work focussed on old growth trees, Indigenous justice and the climate crisis, through my Non-Profit Growth Studio.
I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new volunteer position as consultant at my new Non-Profit Growth Studio!
