Alan Wong

Alan Wong is a seasoned professional with a diverse background in technology, academia, and business development.

Currently, he holds the position of Director of Business Development and External Relations at the College of International and Extended Studies at San Jose State University, where he also oversees the Silicon Valley Center for Global Studies.

Prior to his current role, Alan has a rich history at San Jose State University, serving as the Director of Development for SJSU Charles W. Davidson College of Engineering.

He brings with him a wealth of experience from his time at UCSC Jack Baskin School of Engineering and UCSC, where he started his journey back into academia as a STEM career advisor.

Alan's corporate experience includes a significant tenure at Intel Corporation, where he excelled as a technologist and group manager, leading a metrology R&D program centered on silicon processing.

During his time at Intel, he was involved in representing the company within the Advanced Metrology Advisory Group of International SEMATECH, a prominent semiconductor industry consortium.

Furthermore, Alan is a holder of an impressive nine U.S. patents, all related to overlay and critical dimension metrology, showcasing his technical prowess.

In his commitment to fostering inclusive workplace environments, Alan has taken on leadership roles in numerous employee networks, such as the Corporate Asian American Employee Network (CAAEN).

He served as the President of CAAEN, which functions as a collaborative network of Asian American employee groups across various sectors in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area community.

Alan's influence extended to leading Intel's Asian employee group, Asian Cultural Integration, expanding its reach to multiple Intel sites and playing a key role in its participation as a founding member organization of CAAEN.

His engagement in advocacy and governance dates back to his graduate school days when he held the position of vice chairman for the University of California Student Association, the systemwide student government.

Noteworthy is Alan's academic journey, which began when he moved from Hong Kong to the U.S. at the age of 16 to pursue a college education, culminating in him earning a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of California at Davis.
