Highlights
I read “Make the little girl you used to be proud” in an Instagram post.
Well, the little girl I used to be wanted -
- to get into one of the top-rated high schools in Turkey, graduate with honors, get into Harvard Law, work in one of the top Fortune 500 companies overlooking the NYC skyline from one of the many skyscrapers, and wear heels & a suit every . single . day (as corporate as it can get).
She also wanted to become a chemist so she can turn herself into a mermaid 🧜♀️
➡️ To this I should add - I am more proud of the woman I’ve become than that little girl is proud of who I am now.
That little girl did not know that corporate wasn’t my thing - instead, working with startups would bring me joy and even immense exhilaration because of their rollercoaster nature 🎢
That little girl also didn’t know that I would almost die due to sudden internal bleeding at the age of 18 - this experience would put things in perspective in terms of priorities, and the meaning of “success” for me thereafter.
🗽 I have, however, chased that little girl’s dream all the way to NYC to kick-start my career with a clear purpose - a decision I will never regret. I feel grateful for all the things that led me to make that decision
I did make it in the big city, lived and worked in the startup scenery for 5 years. I also moved 6 times, drove a truck once, changed my car oil myself almost regularly :), painted my walls, and took care of myself alone while I had a fever of 108 degrees all within those 5 years 🤯
So, no, as much as I love that little girl, of whom enthusiasm and life force I’m carrying to this day, I don’t care to make her proud.
What I do care is making myself proud, working for things in this life for who I am now 🙌
Because what I value has changed, things I love and desire have also changed. And that’s O K.
We keep evolving and growing all the time and it’s ok to let go of past desires, have a change of heart, or build up new traumas and heal them successfully.
I think that maybe giving that little girl a big hug, accepting her as she is, with love, and moving forward with the acknowledgment of the present moment is a healthier way to go.
Don’t let your past self define your future 💫
You define your future, by living in the now to the fullest and taking it all, step by step, as it comes.
Show some love to yourself today ❤️

Very much enjoyed earning the Google Ads Search Certification again!
It's been 2 years since I acquired a Google Ads Certification issued by Google on their former Academy for Ads platform but I am so excited to experience the new Google Digital Academy (Skillshop).
Also, special thanks to Brad Batesole and Michael Taylor who helped me to brush up on my Google Ads skills with their in-depth and meticulously organized courses that are available on LinkedIn Learning.
If you are also interested in diving deep into Google Ads for your business or for career purposes, I highly recommend benefiting from both Google Digital Academy (Skillshop) and LinkedIn Learning, and switch back and forth between the two platforms depending on your skill progress.
A few takeaways:
-
Google Digital Academy (Skillshop)'s Google Ads Search course provides in-depth information on Search campaigns in an interactive pdf like format.
-
Brad Batesole's Google Ads Essential Training course serves as a solid Google Ads foundation without getting overwhelmed in details.
-
Michael Taylor's Advanced Google Ads course is amazing if you want to deep-dive into Google Ads Editor, Google Scripts, custom tracking parameters, and more.
