Albana Shala

Albana Shala is a highly experienced media development specialist with a vast knowledge of the Balkans, former Soviet Union, and Central America.

Her expertise spans various areas including designing and managing media training projects, media and communication strategies, providing policy advice on social political contexts, advocacy for media freedoms, gender equality, and journalists' safety, as well as understanding media development in unstable environments, Muslim societies, and post-communist political issues.

Albana holds a Master's degree in Development Studies from the Institute of Social Studies in The Hague, the Netherlands, as well as a Master of Arts in Development Economics and International Development with a postgraduate diploma in International Law from the same institute. She also completed her Bachelor's degree in English Language at Tirana University, Albania, and an International Writing Program Residency at The University of Iowa.

Throughout her career, Albana has held notable positions including Chair of the IPDC's Council at UNESCO - IPDC, Program Coordinator at Free Press Unlimited, Program Coordinator at Press Now in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Project Officer at SNV in Tirana, Albania, Programme Assistant at UNDP in Tirana, Albania, and Editor at Encyclopediac Publishing House in Tirana, Albania.
