POSTDOCTORAL POSITION in Molecular Oncology University of Torino, ITALY A ERC-funded postdoctoral position is available in the Laboratory of Prof. Bardelli at the Dep. of Oncology, University of Turin (Northern Italy), in an international and collaborative working environment with strong ties with IFOM in Milan. It is a full-time position for duration of one year with the possibility of extension. We are a dynamic and multidisciplinary group where molecular biologists and computational scientists collaborate daily, each with their own expertise, to fulfill our common scientific aims. We have many documented national and international collaborations and we are looking for a highly motivated researcher with a previous training in molecular and cellular biology, eager to shed light on the mechanisms of tumor evolution and adaptation to anti-cancer therapy. Our research aims at testing for the first time the hypothesis that therapeutic inactivation of DNA repair pathways in cancer cells can be exploited for patient benefit by reawakening an anti-tumor immune response. Using in vitro and in vivo functional assays we will systematically assess whether and how inactivation of DNA repair genes provokes an immune response and restricts cancer growth. The identification of DNA repair pathways which, when disabled, reawaken the immune system will provide transformative knowledge and could lead to the development of an entirely new class of anticancer drugs. Applicants would likely have:
- a PhD in genetics, biology, pharmacology or in a related field of the life sciences.
- Skills in cell culturing and molecular biology.
- Previous experience in animal manipulation is a plus.
- Prior experience in the field of DNA repair is preferable.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills,
- Fluency in English. Applications should be submitted by Jan 15th, 2022 to [email protected] and should include a CV with a list of publications, a research statement, a cover letter and contact information for at least two references (name, address, email and phone number).
