🚀 Exciting Times for 🇮🇩 Venture Investments! 🚀

As a #thesisdriven fund focusing on Indonesia. We at Arise have spent a meaningful amount of time and resources observing and assessing multiple hypotheses. From how the macroeconomics will shape up, to how the startup landscape will reach its new equilibrium while taking into account the market dynamics and untapped potential that our country holds in the past year.

With a perfect confluence of factors, our #ARISEConviction believes that the 2023/2024 investment vintage is set to be the most promising vintage of the past decade, particularly for venture investment in Indonesia. Here are four compelling reasons:

1️⃣ Neutralized valuation multiples: The market dynamics have shifted, presenting a lower risk on valuation. This creates an ideal environment for savvy investors seeking favorable opportunities in Indonesia's vibrant startup ecosystem.

2️⃣ Maturing founders and fundamental focus: The founders in our ecosystem have evolved, prioritizing the fundamentals of their businesses. This shift leads to the emergence of higher-quality startups, poised for long-term success and growth.

3️⃣ Empowering product-led moats: Founders now have the freedom to focus on building robust product-led moats, free from burdensome market leadership and growth at all cost pressures. This strategic shift enables the right founders to establish unfair competitive advantages and drive sustainable growth.

4️⃣ Stability amidst global turbulence: Amidst the macroeconomic fluctuations, Indonesia stands strong with its relatively stable economy. This stability attracts investors seeking security and resilience in uncertain times.

🌟 Let's seize this golden opportunity! In 2023/2024, the stage is set for unparalleled investments in Indonesia. With neutralized valuations, maturing founders, a product-led approach, and economic stability, we are on the brink of transformative growth.

Looking forward to collaborating with #founders #Coinvestors #Corporates #government and all key stakeholders in capitalizing on this exceptional vintage! 🚀

🔍 Embracing AI's Potential: Sam Altman's Perspective on Education's Changing Landscape! 🌐🤖

Had the privilege of attending a thought-provoking Ask Me Anything (AMA) session with Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, organized by GDP Venture and KORIKA during his visit to Indonesia, where he shared his captivating vision for the future of artificial intelligence (AI).

Despite all the exciting topics being covered, one topic in the very beginning strikes me hard, asked by our Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan (Ministry of Education and Culture Republic of Indonesia) Nadiem Makarim: AI's potential risks on education as students can easily use ChatGPT to do most of the homework/test.

However, he managed to explain this complex threat logically yet simply.

He highlighted that in the past, calculators were feared to hinder students' ability to perform mental calculations. Similarly, when search engines emerged, concerns were raised about their impact on information recall and critical thinking. However, over time, these technologies became invaluable tools that complemented and enhanced the learning experience.

In his view, AI is poised to follow a similar trajectory. While it may initially be seen as a potential threat, AI has the potential to revolutionize education by augmenting human capabilities rather than replacing them. Just as calculators and search engines transformed the way we learn, AI can empower students and educators alike, providing access to vast amounts of information, personalized learning experiences, and innovative problem-solving tools.

He stressed the importance of embracing AI as an opportunity for growth and adaptation. Instead of resisting its integration into education, he encouraged us to view AI as a powerful ally that can alleviate administrative burdens, enable personalized instruction, and equip students with future-ready skills.

Thank you, Sam Altman, for provoking our thinking and encouraging us to embrace AI's potential as a catalyst for positive change in education. Looking forward to your next visit which by that time #ChatGPT can recommend other Indonesian food than "Nasi Goreng" 🍚
