About RAREFORM::

  • Mission RAREFORM aims to repurpose every billboard on the planet into one-of-a-kind goods.1 They transform something old into something new.1
  • Upcycling RAREFORM collects, sorts, cleans, and hand-cuts used U.S. billboard vinyl, transforming 80% of it into unique accessories.23
  • Sustainability Rareform is dedicated to crafting salvaged billboard vinyl into unique products.5 They are working towards using 80% to 100% recycled materials in all their product lines.5
  • Impact The lifespan of a billboard is 4-8 weeks, after which the material typically ends up in a landfill. RAREFORM gives billboards a second chance.23 In an average month, Rareform takes in nearly 500,000lbs of billboard vinyl, which is about 6.7 million sq/ft of material, enough to cover 115 football fields.5
  • Products and Sales RAREFORM produces bags, wallets, and accessories made out of billboards from across the country, selling in 350 retail stores and online via Shopify.4

Background and Education::

  • Avedissian graduated from Westmont College in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics & Business and Spanish.1
  • He attended Oaks Christian School from 2000 to 2004.1

Inspiration for RAREFORM::

  • The idea for Rareform came about when Avedissian was living in El Salvador. He was inspired by how the locals used old billboards as roofing for their houses.4
  • An avid surfer, Avedissian’s first project was to make a surfboard bag out of billboards.4

Avedissian lives in Santa Monica, CA, with his wife, Jacqueline.6 His brother, Aric Avedissian, also works with Rareform.6
