To my network,
After a career-changing 4+ years at Confluent, I’ve decided to take the plunge back into startup land.
Confluent is such a special place, truly one in a million - any of us who joined could feel something was different from day one. From SE to AE, from Enterprise Sales to Digital Native - I feel like I have grown and learned so much from you, my colleagues and customers.
It wasn’t an easy decision to leave, but I’ve always had an eye out for ambitious ideas in our small world of data infrastructure. As for what I’m up to now, I’m excited to share that I’ve joined the team at Modal!!
Modal is redefining the way serverless cloud infrastructure should work. What if software development in the cloud happened instantaneously, with quick feedback loops and no headaches about sizing, provisioning, scaling, or underutilization of CPU/GPU instances?
Modal is already powering some amazing compute-intensive applications and is underpinned by pretty awesome low-level infra (custom container runtime, custom filesystem, and more). When I first tried the product months ago and had the chance to meet the team, I was blown away by the user experience, caliber of this team, and size of their ambition.
If you get a chance to try Modal out, send me a note at [email protected] :)

- How Confluent is building serverless Apache Flink *
Hi friends, I try to not post often here but this is important - check out this deep dive by Konstantin Knauf that explains how Confluent will provide you with a first-in-class, cost-effective, reliable stream processing service to complement your Kafka workloads. https://lnkd.in/dfRZTk3h
Benefits: 🐿️ Zero overhead: it costs literally $0 to spin up a Flink compute pool 🐿️ Zero sizing: it load balances automatically using Flink's Adaptive Scheduler 🐿️ Zero headaches: you bring the SQL , we provide the infra.
For more visual learners newer to the Flink project, here's Kai Waehner bringing back the lightboard with this video! https://lnkd.in/dSjvsa7b
I think this is a pretty big deal that will unlock a plethora of new data streaming use cases. 🚀
Do you?
