Alejandra Alcala is the Co-Founder, Creative Director, and Editor of HOME Storytellers, a non-profit organization she founded with her father.1 HOME Storytellers creates character-driven short documentary films to inspire support for solutions enabling refugee self-reliance.1

Alejandra is also a filmmaker and director. She directed the award-winning film "THE NEIGHBORHOOD STORYTELLER" and is co-directing an upcoming film about young poets.2 Her work focuses on using visual storytelling to shed light on sustainable solutions to the refugee crisis.3

In September 2019, Alejandra embarked on a development trip to Lilongwe, Malawi, to create content for a documentary called "SAWDUST".1 This project aimed to highlight the importance of vocational education for refugees and raise funds for There Is Hope (TIH), a partner organization providing training to refugees.1

Alejandra has experience in various aspects of filmmaking, including storytelling, postproduction, and camera work. During the Malawi trip, she used a Fujifilm X-T2 camera to capture high-quality footage in challenging conditions.1

Based in Barcelona for the past several years, Alejandra has explored different disciplines in visual communication.4 Her work with HOME Storytellers demonstrates her commitment to using film as a tool for social impact and raising awareness about refugee issues.
