Alekhya Velagapudi is a doctoral researcher at the School of Computing and Information, University of Pittsburgh, with a background in Electronics and Communication Engineering from India and a Master's in Information and Telecommunications Systems from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.

Her research focuses on leveraging data for decision-making in US telecommunication networks, specifically exploring PTP security, smart cities, and sustainability within smart cities, aligning with UN SDGs.

As a member of the Energy Innovation Center research group, Alekhya delved into the economic and social dimensions of climate action in Pittsburgh, aiming to outline strategies for establishing smarter cities and more informed citizens.

Currently, Alekhya is engrossed in her core doctoral research, stressing on cybersecurity policy and the imperative need to bridge regulatory gaps to fortify and sustain critical infrastructures against evolving threats, particularly emphasizing the significance of addressing cybersecurity challenges for long-term resilience.
