Highlights
Many of us have been following the incredible story of Elizabeth Holmes and Theranos as if it was an exciting new show. Waiting for the next episode to drop, but as we come to the end I’m having a hard time with the conclusion. While some of the investors got some money back, and she was found guilty on 4 counts of wire fraud (or conspiracy to commit wire fraud) for which she may even get jail time, there was no justice for the patients she and Theranos defrauded. Not even a single drop 🩸- Sorry, I couldn’t resist.
As an example, one of their “customers” received results which detected an HIV antibody which turned out to be a false positive. Had I received the same report indicating the presence of an HIV antibody, I can only imagine the stress I would have been under and the impact on my life and those around me.
The verdict just doesn’t sit right with me, especially as the co-founder of a Silicon Valley backed healthcare company. I understand that our legal system is complicated, and winning a case like this was probably a small miracle, but patients should come first. We are all patients.
So incredibly proud of the impact we've already made in such a short time and honored to have the support of our investors, partners, advisors and friends on our mission: Instant access to medical expertise #medtech #designleadership
