Highlights
A few months ago there was a scandal with RTE, Irish nationwide media.
Now there is another controversy in the Construction sector 🏗️
😱 EU takes legal action against Ireland over alleged failure to check construction products.
The defective concrete block (mica) scandal will cost the taxpayer at least €2.5 billion if the claim is successful. This means if the European Commission European Commission will get this money from Irish workers.
The minister and senior council representative had no clue who was responsible for monitoring the quality and safety of construction materials.
Question: shall the heads at relevant departments be personally liable for their failure to comply with the EU law rather than the state?
