Last Friday was my last day with Trend Micro. It marks 3 years with Cloud Conformity (now part of Trend Micro), and 6 years building SaaS products and scaling product development operations for SaaS companies, but now, it's time for something different...

I am switching to full time product and business management at Quest Coffee Roasters. Quest is a small business obsessively focused on sustainability for its coffee, tea, and cafe. The business is owned by my partner Paul Rosenkranz and myself, and any success it has had is thanks to an awesome and talented team.

Success for me and Quest Coffee Roasters is all about making the world a better place. Sustainability at Quest extends to being careful about every decision and the entire supply chain to ensure suppliers are socially and environmentally conscious. Why? Because (unfortunately) where we spend out money matters (often more than our votes), and our money empowers others. So we choose to spend our money at local companies 🦘, small businesses 👨‍👩‍👧‍👧, and business that share our values of social 🤗 and environmental ethics 🌱. We want our success as a business to mean a positive impact on the world by ensuring power (💪 = $$$) is given to those who deserve it.

And of course the happiness of Quest employees matters as it always has for me wherever I have worked. #teamhappiness is #1 and Quest provides work flexibility, above award wages, investment in education, and support for all team members in any way we can.

This career change is a big step for me, and scary because I don't have the security of a large corporation's pay cheque behind me, but sometimes if you want to make a difference in the world and your own life, risks must be taken.

So, if you're ever in #goldcoast #queensland, I invite you to drop in and say hello, or check out Quest's online store https://lnkd.in/g2BXjkRc for sustainable and ethically conscious #coffee and #tea. P.S. I also think we make f*cking delicious coffee.

Today I received an SMS from a business - Bambora - that I have never heard of claiming to act on behalf of company - Suncorp - I am a customer of, and instructing me to click on a link. They had information about me that suggested the link might be legitimate.

Did I click on it? NO

Why? Because the link was not a suncorp.com.au link and there was no way from the SMS alone that I could verify that the number came from Suncorp or the link was a safe link.

I called Suncorp customer service line and it took them nearly 30mins to verify where the SMS came from, but they confirmed Bambora are the "Technical support team that arranges installations for Suncorp", but still the team did not instruct me to click on the link, but rather put me in contact with Bambora directly.

This is a reminder to everyone - do not click on links you do not trust even if they seem legitimate, and MORE IMPORTANTLY TO ALL COMPANIES - make sure your contractors are providing your customers with links they trust. It's not in the best interest of cyber security awareness to be encouraging everyday consumers that clicking on unknown links is safe. #cybersecurity #cybersecurityawareness
