Hello and good day folks. Today I am starting a new feature branch in my life's git repo.
The feature branch that was Versus Systems was long but very engaging. We engineered wonderful things and built up the company as we joined the ranks of other tech companies on the NASDAQ. I enjoyed my work as Versus Systems CTO and made good friends along the way. We tried our best to find the path to success, but despite our efforts the way remained elusive. So I have merged the branch in and I am now set to find what's next.
The last year or so has been difficult as we have had to make a few rounds of layoffs. At the beginning of October we laid off the last of our full time product development team. They are all outstanding individuals and if they have not already landed somewhere, you should consider any of them to enrich your team. Chris Hildebrand has strong Elixir skills and beyond that he understands how to best deploy solutions that the team has built. Chris also was a great second in command that I could trust to manage other members of the team. Jason Arhart is another extraordinary engineer. Most recently he has been deep in Elixir but I also know Jason to have talents across a number of languages and he is not limited by details like language when crafting solutions. Our games team was also wonderful to work with. Scottie Newman and MATTHEW VALVERDE did wonders crafting our mobile web games with PlayCanvas. They both can also develop in Unity and Unreal. I enjoyed playing the games they made and I know they can help you develop fun games as well. The games would not have looked as good as they did though without Emilio Santoyo. Emo is a great artist who loves games and crafting art to make games pop. Finally, we also had to lose our product manager Hans Pasricha. Hans did a great job guiding the many products we built. I am sure he can help you guide the development of your next product.
I spent the rest of October tying up loose ends and getting things into a good spot to make it easy for the remaining folks to continue to service our customers and provide shareholder value. And now, here I am, letting you all know that I am officially open to new opportunities. I love building and designing systems in Elixir. We switched from Ruby to Elixir in 2017 and I have learned a great deal about the power it provides. I don’t need my next project to be in Elixir, but it would make me happy if it was. At the end of the day I love crafting software products regardless of what they are built in. I also love leading teams of smart and talented individuals that enjoy building things as much as I do.
I enjoy working remote and would very much like to continue to do so. I am open to some amount of time in an onsite office, but ideally most, if not all of my work would be remote.
