Alex Weiner

Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford University

Alex Weiner is a postdoctoral scholar in Jeffrey Axelrod's research group at Stanford University, focusing on studying the logic of cellular asymmetry generated by Planar Cell Polarity (PCP) signaling.

Weiner's research aims to unravel the mechanism underlying PCP signaling, crucial in understanding and potentially mitigating the effects of developmental diseases caused by mutations in PCP genes.

Before his current role, Weiner's expertise was in investigating the mechanisms governing microtubule polarity in neurons, particularly focusing on the precise localization of factors controlling microtubule nucleation sites in dendrites.

He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Molecular, Cellular, and Integrative Biosciences, and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biology, both from Penn State University.

Weiner's educational journey began at Pennsbury High School and progressed through various roles at Penn State University, including PHD candidate, research technologist, undergraduate researcher, and student supervisor.
