Today I’m proud to share a hugely important milestone for WeTransfer that will shape its next chapter of growth: the business has been acquired by Bending Spoons, a leading technology company.

This wouldn’t have been possible without our employees and partners, of both past and present, who deserve all the credit: my deepest thank you for pouring your time, energy and dedication into making WeTransfer the healthy and sustainable business it is today and delivering real magic for the millions of creators we serve.

In the last few years, the business has shown accelerated growth and real resilience as we’ve fueled our upward trajectory with strong product development and hyper focus on the creative community’s needs. We’ve grown faster, staying profitable and true to our creative roots, and have given back more than €1 million to emerging artists through the The Supporting Act Foundation (and even won an Oscar!).

What started as an iconic file sharing product has transformed into a vibrant platform for building creative businesses. With 2 billion files transferred every month by 80 million monthly active users, including 600+ thousand subscribers and hundreds of advertising partners – a huge thank you to our users and customers who contribute to the continued success of WeTransfer.

Bending Spoons has made its name building products that cater to the creative communities and I’m confident that as one of their biggest acquisitions to date, WeTransfer will continue to flourish with even more intent and excellence.

I have complete trust in Luca Ferrari and the team in the synergies our companies can unlock and I have no doubt that our product, brand, and offering will reach new heights under their leadership.

There are more people I could tag and thank, who made this milestone possible. A special heartfelt shout-out to Melissa Nussbaum for being the absolute best professional partner and friend one can ask for. Damian Bradfield, you are an institution and an inspiration - WeTransfer wouldn’t be what it is without you. Damon Dean, Dan Conti, Adam Mitton, Danielle Cummins, Dara Nasr, Irina Dima, Kirsty Price, and Ingrid Välk - you are rockstars and deserve all the credit for making this business the success it is today. And of course thank you to everyone else at WeTransfer!

Also thank you to our amazing board and investors for their relentless support. Martha Lane Fox, Erik Huggers, Irena Goldenberg, Tony Zappala, Brad Brooks, Manfred Krikke, you have always believed in the team and the business and we wouldn’t be here without you.

As for me, my top priority over the coming months is to help the Bending Spoons team take the reins and ensure a smooth transition!

Can sustainability fuel business growth, and the other way around?

The short answer is: it can and it should. But there are no shortcuts.

At WeTransfer, we're focused on scaling profitably (10+ years and counting), building tools that help our users build sustainable businesses and having a positive impact on the creative industries at large.

It takes long-term commitment and I'm proud of how rallying around these shared goals is shaping our culture.

Huge credit to the whole team and especially Lina R. & Damian Bradfield. Together they have shown why reaching a significantly higher B Corp score is everybody's business and goes hand-in-hand with continued growth, product evolution and a vibrant platform for creative expression.
