The UC Irvine Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders (UCI MIND) 🧠, led by Director Dr. Joshua Grill, held their 1st in-person Asian American & Pacific Islander Community Advisory Board (AAPI CAB) meeting on June 4, 2024 at the UCI campus since our first meeting online during the Covid-19 pandemic. Thanks to the Director of Asian American Community Outreach of UCI MIND, Dr. Hye-Won (Grace) Shin, PhD, for asking me to join this esteemed board as a UCI Alumnus to help with the goal to reach out to our AAPI community who show symptoms or have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's & related dementia. For more than 30 years, UCI MIND has been at the forefront of aging and dementia research. It is home to one of the federally funded Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia (ADRD) research centers in the United States and is the only center in Orange County. UCI MIND has a long-standing focus on inclusion of AAPI communities in ADRD research. This has historically focused on Chinese American enrollment in the ADRC Clinical research but has recently expanded to include Korean Americans and other AAPI communities.
