Highlights
We’re looking for a watch obsessive to join the team. We’re rethinking the experience around rare and collectible retail to make something that feels more personal and knowledgeable than anything else online.
We recently made the decision to wind down The Department.
While it’s of course not the ending we envisioned when we started the project, it has been an incredible journey.
There’s a lot to say and a lot to think about coming out of it, and an incredible number of people to thank, but for now I’ll keep it short. First, I have to say thank you to Eleanor Shatova for doing this with me. She’s an incredible engineer and cofounder, and any team is lucky to get to work with her. It was great to go on this adventure with you. Also thank you to everyone at Entrepreneur First for the support and feedback throughout the project, particularly Ali Susskind, who was the first person to really believe in what we were building - an incredibly valuable thing when you’re trying to start a company.
As for me, it’s time for a bit of a break and then onwards to figuring out what’s my next project. The work is as interesting as ever, and whether starting another company or joining a team building something amazing, I am more excited than ever to keep building. Lots of ideas. Lots to do. But it’ll be about finding what’s right to do next.
In the meantime, one of the best parts of this entire process was getting to talk to other founders, share ideas, and talk about founding. If I can be helpful to anyone else trying to build something big and challenging, feel free to DM and I’ll be happy to help how I can.
