Can you distinguish text written by artificial intelligence?
I'm probably not the only one who has started to notice that more and more content around us is being created with the help of artificial intelligence, something like Chat GPT. And it writes freely on any topic, so if someone, for example, wants to boost their LinkedIn profile, they can easily generate as much text as they want in any language. And I think I've learned to distinguish such automatically generated texts from those written by humans (although I might be flattering myself in this).
In my opinion, the distinctive features are:
- Easy-to-read, but emotionless text
- Very general, high-level discussions on general and bland topics
- Use of characteristic, phrase and words that are too complex, rare, and pretentious
- Lack of conclusions at the end of the text
Again, it might just be my impression that I've learned to recognize generated texts, but I've spent quite a bit of time working as a journalist and editor and know how exactly real people write.
And just recently, I came across a discussion about a service that uses artificial intelligence to generate responses to posts and thought that when AI starts commenting on posts it has written itself, that will be the end of all social networks. And then we'll all finally go and do some real work!
