Last week held two significant professional milestones: I marked my first year of service as Chief Executive Officer at Center for Resilience and I closed the organization indefinitely. (Link to article in comments)

It’s been an honor to serve as the leader of an organization with a mission and values that resonate with my own. I am immensely proud of the work our team lead this year and the preceding 8 years serving our community.

I am leaving this year with a new view on work and what matters when striving to fulfill an organization's mission, while also achieving personal satisfaction at work. I'm compelled to share the key three lessons, of many, that feel most critical: 1. Courage isn’t the same as success. 2. Ask for help and then accept that help. 3. Curiosity, empathy, and transparency are paramount.

Finally, I want to thank everyone who has supported me this year. It has truly taken a village to get me here - friends, colleagues, board members, community partners, and family members. Thank you for believing in me and believing in our mission.

As for what’s next for me, I’m looking forward to some slow summer days with my kids and some space for reflection on how I want to lead change in my next role.

Today is Give NOLA Day and it's one of my favorite days of the year. Our city comes together to show up for causes that better outcomes for members of our community. Today I'm celebrating by donating to Teach For America Greater New Orleans, YouthForce NOLA, unCommon Construction, SELF - Special Education Leader Fellowship, New Heights Therapy, Children's Bureau of New Orleans, and of course, Center for Resilience.

It's also Children's Mental Health Awareness Week. I invite you to join me in celebrating by making a donation to Center for Resilience. With a gift of $50, you'll receive a t-shirt designed by one of our children. Donations up to $5,000 will be matched by our Board of Directors.
