Alexandra Leeper

Alexandra Leeper is a current PhD candidate in Sustainable Aquaculture, conducting her research jointly at Matís ohf. Iceland Food and Biotechnology and the Norwegian University of Life Sciences, Norway. Her research focuses on Manipulation of the gut microbiome of juvenile salmonids and the consequences for behavior, primarily working with novel feed ingredients sourced from valorised waste streams. She is funded by the H2020 SYLFEED project and has experience in developing and securing funding for research projects. Alexandra completed her MSc Erasmus Mundus in Marine Environment and Resources Program with a full scholarship. Her educational background includes various courses and degrees in marine biology, oceanography, and marine environment and resources from institutions like the University of Plymouth, University of Southampton, Universidad del País Vasco, Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea, and Université de Liège. Alexandra has held positions such as former National Coordinator for Iceland for the European Aquaculture Student Society, Principal Investigator, Aquaculture Instructor, and has experience in various roles in research, navigation, and education.
