Alexandra Pastollnigg is a social entrepreneur and the founder of Fair Voyage, a sustainable travel platform that connects global travelers with verified responsible local companies.12 Originally from Austria and now based in Switzerland, Pastollnigg worked for 12 years in investment banking before transitioning to social entrepreneurship.2
Pastollnigg founded Fair Voyage in 2017 with the mission to make sustainable travel easy.1 The company offers innovative, personalized, and responsibly curated tailor-made trips, specializing in African destinations and other select global locations.3 Fair Voyage emphasizes sustainability and local community benefits in its travel offerings.
Pastollnigg's inspiration to start Fair Voyage came from her personal experiences, particularly after climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in 2015. During this trip, she became aware of the exploitation of porters on the mountain, which led her to write a book titled "Kilimanjaro Uncovered".4 This experience, combined with her participation in a social entrepreneurship program, motivated her to create a business focused on sustainable tourism.
As of January 2025, Pastollnigg is no longer directly involved with Fair Voyage. She currently works as a Responsible Investment Officer at Graubündner Kantonalbank in Zürich, Switzerland.5 This career shift indicates her continued commitment to sustainability and responsible practices, now in the financial sector.
Pastollnigg is also known for her adventurous spirit, having completed challenging expeditions such as climbing Mount Kenya and cycling from Cairo to Cape Town.2 She serves as a Board member of the International Mountain Explorers Connection, a non-profit organization committed to improving the working conditions of porters on Mount Kilimanjaro.2
