Highlights
15 years here at CNBC and I have had the pleasure of meeting amazing executives, entrepreneurs, and experts. Still, I think meeting an Olympic athlete -- one who medaled at both the Summer and Winter Games was one of the coolest and most inspiring. And now, every time I watch the Olympics I think about how Lauryn Williams, CFP® was one of the most down-to-earth people that have come through CNBC AND she completed this amazing feat in not one but TWO sports. (I am still trying to be mediocre at one.) Anyway, here I am wearing HER medals because that's how cool she is...
Nearly 10 years ago, in celebration of CNBC’s 25th anniversary, I worked on CNBC’s “First List”, which was a look at past changemakers and innovators in business and finance since 1989. That list had 4 women on it.
Today, I am very proud to say that I was part of the launch of CNBC’s newest list, CNBC CHANGEMAKERS, which is celebrating 50 women transforming business.
But, make no mistake: There is still a need for more coverage of women in business news and more support from the capital markets.
What we have done today is just a start as we are recognizing accomplished women who are well known (oh, hi TSwift!) – and many who have flown under the radar.
Shout out to all who worked on this months-long project but especially the many women who brought this to life including Julia Boorstin, Harriet Taylor, Lacy O'Toole, Sara Lindsay, Rosy Ngo, Jacquelyne Taurianen, Sam Wright, Jennifer Geller, Jillian Kreitzman, Nicole Mentel and our illustrator Monica Ahanonu.
Take a look at who made our inaugural list. Here's to many more women leaders in 2024.
