In the heart of the COVID-19 pandemic, I had the incredible opportunity to work on the construction & commissioning of the OQ8 Duqm Refinery. It was a time of both challenges and immense rewards. Duqm, with its rugged beauty, left an indelible mark on me. The dramatic cliffs plunging into the sea, the vast, rocky deserts, and the serene beauty of the coastline were simply breathtaking. I was amazed to discover the unique flora of the region, including trees that produce frankincense (Boswellia sacra tree). And the wildlife! The wild donkeys and foxes roaming the deserts were a constant surprise. The abundance of marine life was equally impressive. The sea teemed with fish, making it a bustling hub for local fishermen. It was a privilege to witness firsthand the resilience and hard work of the community in such challenging times. Having worked on several projects, I've noticed how amazing places can be found where you least expect them!
