Alexis Downey is an impassioned student advocate and visionary higher education leader with almost 14 years of experience prioritizing students' holistic wellbeing. With a background shaped by a first-generation Mexican mother, Alexis values the importance of students' narratives and leverages an identity-conscious approach to foster genuine connections.

Alexis's professional mission is centered on cultivating healthy and safe campus environments that support the success of all students. She harbors a keen interest in High Impact Practices that integrate the academic curriculum with students' real-world encounters, aiming to enhance student well-being, belonging, and mental health.

Academically, Alexis pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) in Student Affairs in Higher Education at Colorado State University and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Technical and Scientific Communication at James Madison University.

Throughout her career, Alexis has held various key roles in prestigious institutions, including serving as the Assistant Dean of Students at American University, Academic Advisor in the School of Communication at American University, Case Manager in the Office of the Dean of Students at Appalachian State University, and Strategic Communications Director at the Center for New Designs in Learning & Scholarship at Georgetown University.

Additionally, Alexis has demonstrated her dedication as the Director of the Student Fellowship Program for the Georgetown Women's Alliance (in a volunteer capacity) at Georgetown University, as well as in roles such as Communications Manager, Project Coordinator, and Community Director within the Center for New Designs in Learning & Scholarship at Georgetown University.
