Alina Uspenskaya

Founder and Director at ArtSocial Foundation

Alina Uspenskaya is a dedicated advocate for making arts more accessible to children in need, leveraging her passion for arts to create positive impacts in their lives.

In 2015, Alina founded the ArtSocial Foundation with the goal of providing arts and creative therapies to children facing challenges such as special education needs, disabilities, long-term illnesses, and mental health issues.

Through collaborations with experts in the UK and Russia, the ArtSocial Foundation funds and initiates art-based projects to empower and improve the well-being of children and youth at risk of exclusion.

Moreover, the Foundation invests in the professional growth of art therapists to ensure sustainable and lasting benefits for the communities they serve.

Alina Uspenskaya also established the ArtSocial Patron's Club, a non-profit members club uniting individuals passionate about arts, culture, and philanthropy to support the Foundation's charitable endeavors.

Profits generated by the Patron's Club are channeled back into funding the impactful activities of the ArtSocial Foundation, fostering a community of change-makers dedicated to making a difference.

Alina's educational background encompasses a Master's degree in Grantmaking, Philanthropy, and Social Investment from Cass Business School, a Diploma with distinction in the History of European art from Christie's Education, and a BA in Russian Law with a focus on common law from the University of the Russian Academy of Education.

Alina Uspenskaya has held various roles in esteemed organizations, serving as the Founder and Director of the ArtSocial Foundation, and gaining valuable experience as an Intern at the Impressionism & Modern Art department at Sotheby's, as well as at the Russian Art and Old Master Paintings departments at Christie's.

I'm excited to share my latest blog for ArtSocial Foundation, celebrating the women who are challenging the gender bias in art and leading positive change.

Did you know; while women make up 51% of visual artists today, only 5% of artworks sold at auction are by a woman?

While there have been some positive changes over the last few years––notably the appointment of Frances Morris as Director of #TateModern ––we still have a long way to go.

In my latest blog, I highlight just six of the women and female-led organisations who are pioneering this change; Valeria Napoleone, Frances Morris, Mari Katayama, Adelaide Damoah, Liezel Stricker Strauss and Anisa Morridadi
