Alireza Khaligh is a distinguished Professor and Director of Maryland Power Electronics Laboratory (MPEL) at the University of Maryland at College Park.

He is also the visionary Founder and President of AmpX Technologies, Inc., a trailblazing technology firm focusing on innovative power electronic systems for automotive, industrial, and consumer electronics industries.

Dr. Khaligh has an exceptional background in power electronics, motor drives, and renewable energy systems, with expertise in electric vehicles, transportation electrification, solar energy conversion, and grid integration of renewable energy sources.

With a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology and postdoctoral research experience at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Dr. Khaligh is a prolific author with over 200 publications in prestigious journals and conferences, along with two authored books.

He has held key editorial roles in prominent IEEE publications, including serving as Deputy Editor in Chief of IEEE Transactions on Transportation Electrification and as an Area Editor for IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology.

Dr. Khaligh's leadership in the field is evident through his active involvement in organizing major conferences such as the IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Expo (APEC) and the IEEE Transportation Electrification Conference and Expo (ITEC), where he has held various chair and program roles.

His research interests extend to developing minuscule power electronic interfaces for IoT, energy harvesting, and wearable electronics, showcasing his versatility across different technological domains.
