THIS is how to be an ally.
In a world filled with more talk than action, I applaud the Danish men’s football team 👏👏👏
By refusing a pay raise and making other concessions, they enabled their female counterparts to receive equal pay and better benefits. https://lnkd.in/e7fZvBfN.
They showed up by putting the needs of others over their personal gain. By doing what’s just.
Amazing, right?
But why did the men’s team have to lose for the women to gain? Instead, how about the soccer association just pays fair wages across the board?
Shouldn’t the companies we work for want to institute fair pay and equality measures?
Beyond the legal and moral considerations, it’s simply good business. Diverse and inclusive workplaces are often more innovative and productive. When employees feel valued and fairly compensated, they are more engaged and motivated—and stay longer. What company wouldn’t want this?
Until our employers come around, until WE DEMAND they come around, take a lesson from the Danish men’s team and:
💡 Think beyond yourself
💡 Team up with those you're supporting
💡 Don’t just talk, push for real change
Thoughts? What are some ways we can show up better at work and advocate for a more inclusive future?
