Alison West is the Owner and Director of Yoga Union, located in New York City.1 She is a highly respected yoga teacher who has been teaching since 1988, specializing in Yoga for Backcare & Scoliosis, Anxiety & Depression, and both 200- and 500-Hour Teacher Trainings.1 Alison was called one of America's most influential Yoga teachers in 2016 by Sonima.1

Before her yoga career, Alison had an academic background in Art History, earning a Ph.D. from NYU's Institute of Fine Arts in 1985.1 She worked on the curatorial staff of The Frick Collection and taught at Barnard College/Columbia University.1

Alison opened Yoga Union in its current location in 2011 and directs the comprehensive Yoga for Backcare & Scoliosis Certification Program.1 She has also released a six-part online video course, "Yoga for Back Health," with Yoga Journal in July 2018.1
